Bill Norman
Bill Norman - "This is pop" Fridays 9pm
I've done   home tapes for mates for  about 40 years  ( amazingly they’re still friends ) but not consistently for a long time as I am nearly deaf  so I need to be careful how I use my remaining hearing . This does of course also  explain my very strange musical tastes.

Although This Is Pop represents  a good  chunk of what I consider to be my favourite  music I also love old soul and funk/jazz funk , Americana , 70s prog , classic rock , pop and reggae , a little bit of jazz and a dollop of classical.
  • Favourite Albums – three that are inseparable - Court and Spark – Joni Mitchell, Innervisions – Stevie and Revolver  - The Fabs
  • First single bought – two together – the theme from Fireball XL5 by Russell  Crowe’s former father in law and 54321 by Manfred Mann
  • Favourite gig  - Mr Springsteen – May 11th 1981 Newcastle City Hall
  • Favourite Rug Cutter – Feel the Need In Me – Graham Central Station
  • Favourite  Singles  again – three that cannot be distinguished - When You Walk In The Room  - The Searchers,  Inherit the Wind  - Wilton Felder and Overnight Sensation  - The Raspberries closely followed by King Tubby Meets the Rockers Up town  - Augustus Pablo , Going Underground - The Jam , Complete Control - the Clash , Regret – New Order ,  Common People – Pulp and the Poacher – Ronnie Lane
  • Favourite Bands – The Beatles,  The Jayhawks, Steely Dan,  Crowded House , The Jam , The Manfreds in all guises , Yes , and er … Premiata Forneria Marconi
  • Favourite current band -  Public Service Broadcasting
  •  I am 62 and retired after working in the civil service then mental health , learning disabilities services in the statutory sector and finally a blind society in the  voluntary sector .
  • Outside music I love quizzing , I do voluntary stuff on  the committee of a Community Centre and a few other things , I want to save  the earth,  and I have a lifelong devotion to most things Trek , Who  and MCU . I love running on my cross trainer to old episodes of Person of Interest or Luke Cage….
